Brief History of Synthetic and Structural
Main Group Chemistry Laboratory

This laboratory was originated from two streams of laboratories in the Department of Chemistry, “Synthetic Organic Chemistry Laboratory” established by Prof Tetsuo Nozoe in 1962 and “Structural Organic Chemistry Laboratory” established by Prof. Noboru Morita in 1995. These two laboratories were unified as “Synthetic and Structural Organic Chemistry Laboratory” in 2005. We changed the name to Synthetic and Structural Main Group Chemistry in 2023 because of the development of our chemistry. The following are principal investigators of this laboratory.

Prof. Tetsuo Nozoe 野副鐵男 April 1, 1962 to March 31, 1966 (Synthetic Organic Chemistry Laboratory)
Prof. Kahei Takase 高瀬嘉平 April 1, 1966 to March 31, 1989 (Synthetic Organic Chemistry Laboratory)
Prof. Masaaki Yoshifuji 吉藤正明 April 1, 1989 to March 31, 2005 (Synthetic Organic Chemistry Laboratory)
Prof. Noboru Morita 森田昇 April 1, 1995 to March 31, 2005 (Structural Organic Chemistry Laboratory) and April 1, 2005 to March 31, 2009 (Synthetic and Structural Organic Chemistry Laboratory)
Prof. Takeaki Iwamoto 岩本武明 April 1, 2009 – present (Synthetic and Structural Main Group Chemistry Laboratory)
